State-of-the-Art Grain-Handling Facility to be Operational in June 2010

Omaha, Neb. (Sept. 30, 2009) – Gavilon Grain, LLC dba Peavey Company today announced plans to begin buying grain for 2010 delivery in New Rockford, N.D. Gavilon expects the 1.8-million-bushel, concrete grain elevator to be operational in June 2010. The 120-car, BNSF shuttle facility will serve grain producers in northeast North Dakota.

“We are looking forward to further developing our relationships with producers in North Dakota,” said Matt Gibson, director of merchandising and operations western region of Gavilon Grain. “The addition of the New Rockford facility will complement our existing North Dakota grain elevator locations in Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown and Carrington.”

The New Rockford facility will be capable of receiving 40,000 bushels per hour and loading a 120-car unit train in approximately seven hours. The facility will also feature a high-speed grain dryer enabling producers to deliver wet corn at harvest. Several area contractors were awarded the Greenfield project, including Vigen Construction Inc., the general contractor; Hope Electric Inc.; Gratech Company, Ltd.; and RailWorks Corporation.

The facility manager, Eric Berge, is currently meeting with area producers and actively bidding on corn, soybeans and wheat for 2010 production. Berge is temporarily located at the Carrington, N.D., office and can be contacted at (701) 947-2560 for grain bid information.
